Moodboard

When they bought this 3 bedroom house, A. and P. wanted to establish a pied-à-terre to escape the uncertain weather of Northern Europe. It was never meant to be a primary residence, but somewhere to retreat and relax, much like an adult tree house.
They would come here for extended weekends, and wanted the possibility to invite a couple of friends over for the holiday, to enjoy the charming streets of Estepona and its nightlife.
With a very reasonable budget, they wanted to make of this house something more personal than a rental, but with the functionality and elegance of a swanky hotel.
Mediterranean warm tones inject their energy, contrasting with Scandinavian lighter features, bringing stability to the space. Wood textures bind both world together, plush fabrics reaffirm the laid back spirit of the place.
Layout strategy

Floor plan - detailed layout
As the space had to keep its original configuration to host 2 guest couples, we didn't change the structural layout.
We focused on organizing the space as to optimize the circulation, and streamlined the furniture bringing simplicity and elegance. Facing the beach and naturally exposed all day long to the direct sunlight, the lighting challenge resided in the sun flooded windows, which required a meticulous selection for the materials and layout, as to improve the overall lighting balance across the rooms and avoid glare.

The buoyant energy of the street extends into the living room, bringing trendy cocktail bars atmosphere in with the comfort of a hotel suite.
A functional open kitchen offers a dining space overlooking the living room, coming in handy for late night snacks and home cooked brunches, while adding contrast to the space.
The master bedroom is meant to be the most personal space, displaying more sophisticated patterns and textures.
The guest bedrooms are foremost ergonomic, and discreetly embrace the palette of the house.
